Geylang Serai Malay Village
Have you been to Malay Village at Geylang Serai? It is a place which relishes the good old days from 1950s to 1960s of traditional Malay “kampong” lifestyle. Kampung Museum, Art Gallery, Hall of Fame, banquet facilities and kampong shops in the Malay village promises to keep you immersed in the enriching Malay culture. The trip through the village takes a short three hours.
The Kampung Museum is right in the middle of the Malay Village. It occupies a two storey building. In here, you will get to see traditional musical instruments, collection of weapon specimens used by villagers in the old days, wayang kulit (shadow puppet show) and traditional wedding showcase on the first floor. On the second level, you can see the Muslim bridal chamber and accessories display. These exhibits will definitely give you a more in depth knowledge of the Malay lifestyle in Singapore.
Yet another interesting attraction of the village is the Kampung Days. A walk-through showcases depicting the traditional lifestyle in a kampong community during the 50’s and 60’s of Singapore.
After the walk-through, it will be a good time to source for souvenirs for your love ones and friends from the 50 over shops. From ready made baju kurung (Malay female attire) to Malay traditional herbs, I am sure you will be able to pick at least one item from the wide range of goods and services available.
However, there will be a small charge for entry to the Kampung Museum and Kampung Days area as follows.
Adult (with guide): $5

Nice post on the Malay Village and nice pictures too. Have to visit the place before it is too late. Heard it is going to be torn down soon.
