Planning Your Trip

Did you have a terrible travel trip the last time round due to lousy planning? If you are reading this article then it might just help you in planning your next travel trip planning in one way or another.

First piece of advice: Be Organized.

If you do come across something that you think might be useful or seems interesting to you, write it down somewhere so that you will remember it later on.

Second piece of advice: Keep a Smile.

If your plans do not go the way you wanted it to, still keep your smile. After all, it only takes 22 muscles to smile and 37

muscles to frown so let’s not waste unnecessary energy.

Third piece of advice: Plan Adequately.

Planning Trip

A simple equation I derived from planning holiday trips is: the more quality time you spend planning, the lesser worries you will have when traveling.

Let’s plan a trip together.

1.Type of Holiday
For most people, they will ask themselves which countries they want visit. Why not change the way we think and start asking ourselves what kind of holiday do we actually seek for? What do I really mean? Ask yourself if you are looking for a place to relax and chill, shop till you drop, or experience some cultural vibrancy. A question like this will give you a better idea of which countries to choose from.

For sun lovers, you can short list countries like Bahamas, Spain, Philippines or Thailand which are famous for their beaches. For shopping addicts, Taiwan, Hong Kong, France (Paris) and Spain (Milan) are some fantastic places to get the latest fashion apparels and accessories. Culture enthusiasts can consider European countries or China which have rich long histories, or even Asia and Middle East countries which have vivacious cultures due to their unique ethnicities.

2. Budget Consideration
Another consideration that should come into your mind while deciding your destination will have to be the amount you are willing to spend for your holidays. Depending on your priorities, you might want to consider this issue first before deciding on the type of holidays you want.

3. Best Time for Travel
After deciding on your holiday destination, it will be wise to consider the best time for visiting. Visiting a country at a wrong time might cause you to miss the “ideal” period. This “ideal” period includes factors like festive seasons, tourism promotion campaigns, climate, political situations and natural disasters prevalence. In simple words, I would rather visit a country while it is holding a sale campaign than to visit it at other times if I am looking to shop till I drop.

4. Mode of Travel
These days there are various modes of travel available for travellers to pick from. Whether it is by plane, cruise, train or a combination of them all, it will be beneficial to take note of the pricing, services and durations of these modes. It will also be good to check on the visa requirements for the countries you are visiting or transiting in.

5. Accommodation
Accommodation is one of the most important things you have to consider. With all that fun you get from exploring your holiday destination, you are bound to be exhausted; therefore a comfortable place to rest and recuperate for the night before heading out for play the next day will be of great importance. As always, the pricing and services should be weighed before deciding where to put up at. Another point to take into account will be the accessibility of your accommodation. The ease of accessibility will definitely aid in your exploration visits.

6. Travel Companions
Traveling with different social groups will give you different feelings. For example, you don’t want to be traveling with a true blue shopaholic if you intend to embark on a trekking tour, it might not only dampen your holiday spirits but also strain the relations with your companion. If a travelling group has already been decided, it will probably be best to discuss the details together so that everyone will enjoy the trip as much as you do.

There are still many points to take note of while planning for a holiday trip. And in consolidation of the few points I have mentioned earlier:

  1. Type of Holiday
  2. Budget Consideration
  3. Best Time for Travel
  4. Mode of Travel
  5. Accommodation
  6. Travel Companions

It will always be wise to do your planning rather then regret later on. As the saying goes, “If you fail to plan then you plan to fail!” I hold great faith in this saying as there is little to lose except for a couple of hours and I get more fun for my holidays in return. After all, it is never too late to plan but always too late to regret. With sufficient planning, all you have to do is start enjoying yourself the moment you arrive! So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and start planning your trip and have fun!
